Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I be present during the evaluation?
We strongly
encourage parents to be a part of the therapeutic team. If your child
is young and or fearful of new situations it may be helpful for you to
sit in while the evaluation is taking place. However, some children may
actually perform better when the parent is not present.
What method of payment is required?
We ask that
payment for the initial evaluation be made at the time of service. We
will provide you with a completed bill, including all insurance codes
needed for your submission to the insurance company.
Insurance copays are due at the time of treatment unless a credit card is on file. Wee Speech accepts cash, checks, Master Card and Visa.
What hours and days is the facility open?
Wee Speech,
P.C. is open Monday-Friday from 8 to 6. Hours may vary depending on your
therapist or time of year.
What qualifications does the therapist have?
All of the
therapists are certified and licensed in their respective fields. Our
therapists have extensive training beyond the requirements of certification.
Many of our therapists have an NDT certification. We strongly encourage learning
through continuing education.
What happens if I need to cancel an appointment?
We understand
and appreciate a cancellation when your child is ill. Illness calls can
be made prior to 8:00 a.m. on the day of the session. We require a 24
hour notice for all other cancellations.
Can my child be seen without a doctor's order?
We ask that a doctor's order for evaluation and or treatment be in place prior to your first visit.
Will my insurance pay for an evaluation and or treatment?
Generally
insurance companies will pay for an initial evaluation. It might be helpful
to check your policy to determine what is required by your insurance company
prior to your child's appointment. For example, the insurance company
may require a doctor's order or a pre certification.
If treatment is recommended, how often will my child be seen?
Each child's
needs vary. This is a question which can be answered by your therapist
after the initial evaluation.
Can I leave the facility during my child’s appointment?
Parents are
requested to stay in the building. Your child may need you. Other times,
the therapist might request your attendance in order to teach, explain
or demonstrate activities that you might be asked to perform at home.
Does your facility contract with my insurance company?
Presently,
we are contracted by Blue Cross Blue Shield and CIGNA. We are happy to look into
other insurance contracts.
Can I bring my other children to the therapy sessions?
Yes. Siblings
may wait in our child friendly waiting room in the clinic. There is also an atrium waiting room on the first floor.
Are you DSCC approved?
Yes. Many
of our therapists are DSCC approved. Do you except Public Aid? Not at
this time.
Does your facility provide early intervention services?
Yes. Our
therapists are well trained and have numerous years treating the birth
to three child. We are participating providers in the Illinois State Early
Intervention Program.
